This is a re sealable bottle, meaning it can be opened many times unlike single use ammonia capsules. What do smelling salts do? Industry Smelling Salts release a gas called ammonia.  When inhaled, this can increase breathing, increase heart rate, and create a short span of enhanced focus.  A common accessory at all weight lifting events! What are the salts made of?
